                             History

The Home In Antrim tree appeared at the first Festival of Trees in 2010 as the submission from Antrim Lumber Company. Established in 1964, Antrim Lumber has served the building material needs of the greater Antrim community and beyond. How better to represent Antrim Lumber than to show finished products! The building ornaments were made from photographs taken by the creator, Kristy Boulé. Each was mounted on foam core and hand cut and embossed. The ball ornaments were created using photographs of area business signs, which were mounted inside glass balls and glittered. The Home In Antrim tree won numerous awards that year including Viewer’s Choice Best Theme Award and Honorable Mentions for Most Beautiful and Most Unique. At the close of the Festival the ornaments were donated to the Antrim Historical Society with the intention that the tree could continue to grow and represent the community with ornaments being added each year. In 2012 the Festival of Trees committee acquired a large tree that can accommodate many more ornaments. The community is being invited to assist in its growth by adding ornaments of their own homes and businesses.
